So, as a few of you who check the off topic board know, this time last week I was freaking out about my failing health and my admission into a hospital I had never been to before. I need to brag about how great my new hospital is.
I am encouraging anyone with time to make a list of things they love about their clinic/doctors/inpatient unit too! It would be really nice for me to read some positive things from people who are happy about their care.
1. Spotless facilities. My room is thoroughly cleaned twice a day. How many times have you guys been in the hospital where there's like, a cap from a syringe on the floor for your entire stay that somehow gets sweeped around? Hah. Doesn't happen here! Speaking of being clean, I've only noticed one employee who hasn't washed their hands before coming into my room and once I asked him to he has every time since.
2. The room I am staying in is amazing-- it's private, has wood floors, a view of a beautiful park and my own little mini-fridge (which is excellent for high cal. intake needs!)
3. Huge inpatient gym, full access to a physical therapist and as much time blocked out to work out per day as I can handle.
4. Nurses I can already tell are going to be second moms to me.
5. Doctors who actually communicate with one another! When some of my numbers were bad a few days ago the specialist showed up twenty minutes after the lab results came back. I had the pleasure of having an actual pow-wow with CF docs and specialists in the same room!
6. Speaking of doctors, my new CF doctor is incredible. Brilliant, friendly and down to earth, spends as much time as it takes for whatever I need and is very understanding. My other new specialists are also great.
7. Access to the holistic healing portion of the hospital-- which means, you guessed it, a MASSAGE today. When I was told it was an option I almost fell out of my bed! It was a real treat, and also very therapeutic.
8. Respiratory therapists who don't act inconvenienced or irritated when I ask for 10 extra minutes on the Vest or a few positions of manual CPT.
9. They don't question my needs for anything and are incredibly accomodating.
10. My family is 1,200 miles away from me and this is only my first stay here but it already feels like a home away from home.
Okay, I suppose my only complaint is the food is terrible but how could it not be?! ; ) Have a great night guys, thanks for reading.
