I know someone with CF and would like some advice

There isnt too much I can add. Maybe familiar yourself with CF in general & just let her know that you are there to listen if she needs you. Let her lead you! Its so hard to say since as its been said there is a wide spectrum of peoples privacy with their CF.

I think it is admirable that you are sensitive to this issue and also that you want to befriend this person. Many people just simply don't know what to say to us and so they say nothing. I personally like (need) to talk about our daughter and her CF because it really has changed our world. It doesn't define it, but it is a huge part of it.

I'm sure you'll get your cues from her as you ask her questions. If you find that she does like to talk about it, and once you get the basics from her, do a little research on your own to get the lingo down. Then it can come up in casual conversation and you'll know what she is talking about. I have some friends who I can talk to about it, and others that I just give a short quick response to, because that's all they want.
