Ibuprofen to reduce lung inflammation

I've read a couple places that you can reduce lung inflammation with appropriate doses of ibuprofen. Anyone doing this, or have any comments on it?

Here is an email from the pharmacologist on my cf team:

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote><u>High dose</u> ibuprofen (~ 1000 mg twice daily) <u>reduces</u> inflammation and improves lung function in CF patients with mild lung disease;
however,

experimental data showed that <u>lower doses</u> may actually <u>increase</u> inflammation.

Therefore, it is possible that you could feel worse on ibuprofen therapy.

<b><i>We do not use much chronic ibuprofen therapy because of concerns for hemoptysis and risk of kidney failure.</i></b><div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>

I am one of those doing it! I am on 1200 mgs twice a day! It has seriously done me wonders, at least I think. haha. My lung function has always been relatively stable and doesnt drop below 70%. I can definitely feel a difference when I have to go off of the drug (when on IV's). My lungs feel tighter and I get withdrawls. I have been on it for nasal polyps since I was like 14 probably. I havent had a polyp surgery since I started it, so it helps with that also. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
