Yes, my two daughters have been on the therapy for 3 years now. I think it has done quite a bit to keep them from experiencing serious lung problems. My oldest daughter had terrible polyps in her sinuses, those went away after starting the Ibuprofen. My younger daughter had just started experiencing lung problems i.e. had pnemonia. She's had very few problems since starting.
I don't think I could accurately says what things would be like without it except for the fact that last year my younger daughter had sinus surgery and had to be off the IB for about 2 months and I did notice a cough during that time that was not there prior and it wasn't accompanied by a cold. It went away after she started back on IB.
They are checked often, their blood test come back fine every time no live problems. They've never had stomach problems, but they are pancriatic sufficient. The only complaint is the initial testing that needs to be done whenever their dosage is adjusted. 4 blood draws in 3 hours. No fun at all, but they apply emla to numb their skin before the blood draws and we make sure that they get some sort of treat. Use to be beanie babies, now it's a trip to Barnes and Noble, but whatever works for you.
I think it's worth considering, but I'm sure you'll get other opinions.
Best of luck,
Debbie mother of 2 girls, both w/cf.

love the Motrin, love it! According to my wife I have a psychological addiction. I take 800mg TID and have for 5 years or so. After I take it my lungs truly do feel better. The main concerns are liver function and clotting, with prolonged usage these things may become effected. I do have to cut back on the Motrin when I am on PO cipro because it gives me crippling kidney pain, I don't know that this is common but is very common with me.

I am 29 will be 30 in 3 months(thank you very much), as for age, you are never to old to decrease airway inflammation no matter what the doc says.

I took ibuprofen daily for about 3 years and it did help with my breathing, but in the last year or so I've developed arthritis and the ibu wasn't helping with it. I switched to aleve and it works much better on my arthritis and still helps my lungs. I also don't have to take as much.
