I want to have a baby..im 20 years old and i have a mild case of cf which my pfts are up 86 percent which from what i hear is great. I asked my doctor what my chances were for getting pregnant he said about normal but it hasnt happened yet. They told me that i can get pregnant as long as the mucus ..er..down there is gone and my treatments are staying regular...

Any adult with cf on here whos had a baby i would love to talk to them. i know no one with cf and i am yet again forced to find these things out on my own *since i have no phone n cant call the doc lol* i just started out on my own.

But having a child is the thing i want more then life itself. My family knows that about me. Thats my one dream.

I'm not pregnant, but all i know is that regarding the mucus down there, you should go to your gyno to get it cleared out. Once and awhile I go to a gyno specialist who cleans all the mucus build up down there, so that I have a better chance of conceieving when I do go and try to get pregnant.

You might have to get your doc to send you to a specialist to do this. I know that for awhile my paps were coming back inconclusive, so my doc sent me to a specialist, and she told me its because of mucus build up - then she flushed me out.

Here's a great website by a member of this forum. She has CF and concieved her daughter naturally. She's a wonderful person and a great help. There are a few others on this board too with CF and children, only person coming to my mind right now is Melissa though (Jassy's mom). http://www.geocities.com/murrensnaturemama/index.html

I have had two children. It took 5 years to get pregnant the first time and 7 years the second time. Make sure you are in good health when you get pregnant and work hard at staying that way. My second pregnancy was very hard on me.

Thanks for thinking of me Julie.....my story is unusual. It took 12 years (or more) of not using birth control & 3 different guys (long term boyfriend, first husband & current husband) for me to get pregnant. I wasnt trying, but once it didnt happen after unprotected sex I "assumed" it would never happen. I was only with my new husband for 10 months when I got pregnant. Of course our activiities in that 10 months far surpassed all of my previous activities for the 11 years before him (if U know what I mean). I did get pregnant & besides gestational diabetes controlled with insulin & delivery 4 weeks early by c section as a precaution to me due to my history of hemoptysis.....it was GREAT. I worked fulltime during my pregnancy, felt & looked great. If you want to know more info U can reach me on messenger or aim which U can find on my profile!
