incisional hernia?

Jane

Poor Josh has had abdominal pain for about a month. It seemed like he pulled a muscle but radiates from the g-tube. He first noticed it after gym class when they had started working in the weight room. We were in clinic the same week and he had a hard time blowing for pfts so his cf doc told him to back off the sit-ups for a while and let it heal.

AFter a month he still has pain, no fever, redness or drainage from the site. Motrin and heat packs usually work. Yesterday we went to his pedi who said it seems like it could be an incisional hernia from the g-tube site. On Monday we have an appointment with the surgeon who placed it.

Have any of you heard of this before?

I know very very little about this Jane. I've never heard of it happening with G-tube scar tissue, but from larger surgical scars such as a Nissen Fundoplication. I think it is something that needs surgery to repair. I sure hope not for Josh's sake. Sounds painful.
