Cory still lives at home and the transition was challenging(when for me). I had a difficult time letting go of the "control" We did start in little steps. Making own doctor appointments, ordering own meds. It took a while to get there. I am with Amy's mom. I still ask if he took enzymes. Maybe a little more. I still carry them in my purse.
Even though we took the long route, Cory is very good at managing his own health and will only turn to me when he needs help

Oh Jane this is so good for you to do.. So healthy for your son.. When I moved back in with my father to go to school.. ALL my stuff was kept in my room, and in the refridge..... I didn't leave my stuff laying around as far as medical at all but I think in your situation it may be so different since he has been living there his whole life..

I think starting him out by having him speak to the doctor himself about how he is feeling, also, asking him thought provoking questions that will help him determine what he needs for his health etc.

I don't recommend all of a sudden saying, This is your CF you take care of it. Not that I think you would.. but maybe having him start to take care of his nebulizers, keeping track of his meds etc.. But for privacy... Can you redo a basement or something, some way he can have a little lounge area and bedroom that is just his if he wants it...

I will have to think of more ideas.. I am tired but I think it is a great idea what you are doing

I was going to say I do ALL my nebs in MY (lol) reeclining chair and I think my family thinks it is the most disgusting piece of furniture ever used. I did go to college ansd lived there, but now I have moved back home. What we do at my house though, I usually keep all of my neb equipment (my eflow when I am using it, the neb cups and the meds) on tray, sometimes overflowing, on the dining room table, which is right near my chair. This way, my neb stuff is out of my moms way, but not taking up cupboard or counter space and its relatively clean most of the time.

My advice would be also to explain how health insurance works (if he doesn't already know). Nothing was ever explained to me, and I made some mistakes and errors in judgment before I was clued in. It was definitely a good learning experience though. Good luck!
