Influenza A & Inconsiderate People

Ahhhh, I hear your pain. I HATE when people do this kind of stuff!!!

It's like their sickness is an after thought, like they don't care if they happen to pass it along...not thinking of the population they might pass it to!

I was at my sister's yesterday for my niece's 9th b-day. (she has CF too). Well a friend of my sister's comes in and informs us that he has bronchitis! Luckily my brother in law had to show him something in the garage so he ushered him outside!

I swear I feel like I have a radar all the time of who is sick, if I hear a cough, if I over-hear a conversation of illness, etc. I avoid people like the plague when possible. But there's nothing like having a sickly person, oozing flu germs sit right next to you! JERKS!

totaly agree - it sucks.

to be fair, as lauren said, most people are aware (ignorance, not stupidity) of the affects they can have on others with chronic illnesses.

i take it upon myself to educate others. many of my classmates understand the severity of those with chronic illnesses getting the flu/rhinovirus. they just simply didn't know - they weren't malicious.

so now they're armed with the info of how their actions can affect the most vulnerable among us, and many are more considerate about staying home when sick (but not all! ).

it's up to us to educate. if we don't, we will continue to have to deal with ignorance

Mainly I'm just flabbergasted at the inconsiderate behavior. He knew he most likely had the flu, but just didn't think. He had too much work to do he told us.

DH told me more of the flu saga. Apparently after this guy was at his office, they had another meeting that afternoon scheduled at their office and DH's boss called up this guy's boss and said we're not coming over to that germ infested building -- there's something seriously wrong with B. So B's boss sent him to the clinic and lo and behold finds out he's got Influenza A; however, it shouldn't have been a surprise to B or his boss.

Last week B's boss and another coworker went on vacation with their spouses. The other person had the flu but figured he was okay -- managed to give it to the two wives who had a miserable week in the tropics. Then last weekend B goes to high school basketball tournaments and his room mate has influenza A, but it was okay "he wore a mask" -- but not at the basketball games, that would look weird. So by Monday night B is sitting next to me at a meeting hacking away, not looking too good.

Oh well, I've been using hand sanitizer a LOT these past few weeks.

It's like people just don't care if they spread their illness around! We had a friend who wanted to come over on Superbowl to watch the game but he had the flu all weekend. I told him he had to stay home and he hasn't been over since! He's "mad" and "hurt" because I wouldn't let him come watch football. He won't call us or do anything with us. I guess that just shows what a "good friend" he really was..
