Inhaled Levaquin?

I just started inhaled levofloxacin. I am using 4ml of the injection fluid. The taste seems really strong. I am not supposed to dilute it with saline right? My nurse did not mention to. Has anyone been on this in inhaled form before? How do you administer it? I am pretty sure I am doing it correctly.... it just "tastes" so strong. Stronger than TOBI or coli... I guess I'll just get used to it.

Leah,

You should ask the nurse or your doctor if you can dilute it with saline or sterile water. When I was using colistin and it was making me cough like crazy, I was allowed to dilute it as much as I wanted, because they told me that you are still getting the same amount of medicine. In fact, when I was on IV's and I felt intense burning from the medicine, one of my friends who was a nurse told me to ask them to put the antibiotic in a huge bag so that that the antibiotic would be so diluted that it wouldn't burn my hypersensitive veins. They did, and my problem was solved.

So it is worth asking.

That's a really good idea. Thanks. I might not do it though because I don't want my treatments any longer than they already are! Hopefully I'll get used to it...

Has anybody else done inhaled levofloxacin? How was your experience with it?
