Inhaled vs IV Tobi

When did you start taking inhaled TOBI as opposed to IV? Do your doctors ever deem it appropriate to give IV tobra when you've already been taking inhaled tobra? Once colonized, does it matter which route you take? Concerned about IV side effects....

I just need to clarify this because its a pet peeve of mine. TobRA is the iv form & ToBI is the inhaled....

That being said if I am having an exacerbation I go on iv tobra even tho I am prescribed to use tobi as part of my inhaled regimen.

Usually when I am at the point of needing iv's, I need a cocktail so the inhaled would only do so much since its only one of the 2/3 meds I get via IV.

I have been colonized since my diagnosis so I dont know anything different. Tobra works well for me & KNOCK ON WOOD....I havent had any issues yet, but they monitor me closely because I have used it for years & years!

Yes...I thought my post may confuse or add to confusion between the two! Though I do know the terms "Tobi" and "Tobra" aren't referencing the same form of the med...I'm just a lazy poster, I suppose! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hey Katie. Like Mel said when she/I have an exacerbation we go on IV Tobra. This happens even when I am mid cycle or at the end of my TOBI cycle because the TOBI may not shake my infection. Once I was even on inhaled while on IV Tobra...we hit it pretty hard!
Ever since my first round of IV's when I was 13 I have gotten IV Tobra, everytime. It still seems to be doing the trick and hopefully will continue to.

As far as side effects go I haven't experienced any.
