Insanley Dry Skin

Anyone have any ideas what to do for really, really, dry skin.

My hands and arms are the worst from washing them a million times a day..

I only wash with Aveeno severe skin relief body wash. After that I put Aveeno body oil over my entire body..

In between I use Aquafor or Eucerin hand cream. Sometimes I just put oil on straight. I am taking Omega three oil as well.

I am so dry, and scratchy that my arms have cuts on them now

Any idea?

Go to a farm store, or some walmarts even have it, and look for "Bag Balm". It's made for cows udders, but it is the best moisturizer you will ever find. It's icky, and greasy, but it will work better than anything you will ever find.

Also, when I was young and in my 'experimental' phase I LOVED to mix things together. I ended up taking a little dixie cup and mixing Bag Balm, a regular hand moisturizer, and I split open some vitamin E gel caps and mixed them all together. It was the best hand moisturizer I had ever heard tell of. I used to get what I called 'alligater skin' because my hands would split and bleed everywhere, my mixture helped a lot.

Since I teach ceramics, my hands are always very rough, cracked and dry. I use Nuetrogena Norweigan Formula Hand Cream all the time. At night, I slather it on and wear cotton gloves to bed. Very attractive, but it works!

I really have tried everything. Bag balm also worked well, but I didn't like the smell.

2 words: Shea butter. It is the second best thing on earth for dry skin (scientifically proven). The first is Emu oil, but good luck getting that. L'Occitane has a great line of shea products as well as very high quality pure shea butter. I used to work at one of the boutiques, I swear by the stuff. go to www.loccitane.com to see if you have a store near you or to order online. If you have a store close go in and ask for samples before you buy.

I have used Eucerin cream, too, because my hands and feet crack and bleed in the winter. But, I find that Eucrin makes them dry out even more. I was putting it one before bed and in the morning my hands would be like velcro on the bedsheets!!!! (Talk about attractive!) Bag balm has worked really well, but it is extremly greasy and I don't care for the smell, either. Is it possible you are using too many products? Maybe they are counteracting each other in some weird way? The only advice I can give is to make sure you are not using hot hot water in the shower, and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Winter will be over soon, sweetie.

My husband is also a nurse and has the same problem, Jennifer. He uses vitamin E cream and a creme with shea butter - those are the only creams that have worked for him, and he has tried all the others. Good luck!
