Insulin and pills

Hello, I am an 18 year old CFer who lately combined insulin with pills. In the past, i used to take pills for treating diabetes, but the results are no more satisfactory. So i decided to start insulin on my own , and the gucose levels are much better now. Has anybody tried pills among with insulin, and is it safe and healthy?

I also have diabetes they say the pill dont work for us CFers, that only insulin does. I wouldnt take the pill anymore.

hello, i have had cf related diabetes for 23 years now and have tried two different pills in the past for almost 2 years and i have to agree with the last post. They didnt work. I lost weight while on them and once i got back on insulin i gained all my weight back and felt a LOT better. I dont know if its ok to use both pills and insulin, you may want to ask your doctor abou this.... Good luck, ~ Diane

I just want to say...that each individual is different. I have had CF related diabetes now for 5 1/2 years...and have been on pills for 5 of those years. My A1C is excellent at a 5.6...prob better than some on insulin. So just listen to your doc....he/she should know whats best. I do have to say that my doc is very surprised that I am doing so well on the pills...but as I say if its not broke...dont fix it.Dea
