Insulin...Injection or pills?

Hey Kristoffer,

Insulin now comes in three forms - shots, inhaled and pills. From what I understand the inhaled version can mess with your lungs, so that's out for us. Due to our absorption issues, the pills aren't a good idea either - it'd be even harder to regulate, since we'd never know exactly how much of the insulin we're actually absorbing on any given day. So, from what I hear - shots wind up being the most accurate, and what they reccomend for cf-ers.

I'm no expert - my sugars are high, but in that questionable range - so I've only recently begun considering insulin and discussing options with the doc.

Good luck!

I'm on a pump. When I was on shots, they gave me kid sized needles which REALLY made life a lot less painful. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I did ok on shots, I liked pens, but I realized how much CFRD affects my lungs and so I wanted to be a control freak and went on the pump, which I am totally loving.
Good luck!
