Insurance rant #9872512

Know any attorneys? When DS was a baby, his CF doctor wanted him on synagis shots once a month to prevent rsv. The shots are about $3200 for 5-6 months. Insurance refused to cover them, because according to their local criteria (I looked on other BC sites and they were) -- cfers weren't covered only preemies and babies with heart defects. His pediatrician wasn't much help. Went round and round for a couple of weeks. Sent letters explaining a hospitalization and potential lung damage would be much more expensive than the shots. So a cousin, who is an attorney faxed the insurance company a similar letter and within MINUTES we received a call indicating the shots had been approved.
