Hello Everyone!

I have a 5 yr old with CF (DDF508) diagnosed at 1 week meconium ileus. I was wanting to know what other parents do for their kids about insurance. The cost of his healthcare is sooo expensive. He has been on state insurance since he was born, but the guidelines for this make us feel trapped and unable to grow financially for sure. We want to do what is right all the way around and I'm looking for advice. Thank you for your input!

Where do you live? We are in PA and my son is on Medicade and our income is not considered. It I a special needs kids loop hole program. He receives full medical insurance. All we needed was a letter from our doctor asking he be included in the program and a denial from social security based on our income(we make too much and have too many assets). The insurance has been a godsend for us. Check with your doctor and dept. of welfare to see if a program exists in your state. Good luck

Try a lone child's policy under BCBS of TN. That works great for our son. He has an individual policy that we pay for. It's $71.50 per month, $15 Co Pay, $1000 deductible, 80/20 coinsurance, and a $5000 out of pocket maximum each year. Go to TRH.com. You join Farm Bureau to get the discount. When they turn 18, they can keep it as an individual adult policy.
