Is a bronch always done with IV ABX?

I had 1 bronch pre transplant and I think I had one dose of IVs with that and then the doc put me on oral abx for a few weeks afterwards once he got the culture results back.

Otherwise YES I have had a loading dose of IV abx with every bronch I have had post transplant. I think it is mostly as a precautionary thing with the risk of infecting that can happen at times with bronchs. I don't think there is anything wrong with your docs for wanting to do it this way - I think it is just trying to be a little more cautious.
