I dont get to the point of passing out. BUT I am definitely different then when I was younger. I use to watch "joyfully" and it didnt phase me. NOW I try not to look at blood draws or anything.

BTW you should be "looking" during picc line dressing changes anyway.....I was always told not to "breath" in that direction to avoid any potential infection etc.

The dressing change doesn't bother me. I don't look but like Mel said you aren't supposed to look when they do it otherwise you breathe on it and that is not good. When it comes to getting IVs or blood drawn I can't look. I pass out if I see my own blood. When they came and took my PICC out this last time she showed me the line after it was removed (like 10 minutes later) and I passed out haha!!! I guess just knowing what was in me freaked me out.

You are definitely NOT alone in being a big baby about

YES most definitely! I used to be sooooo good at, a real champ...but not anymore. I think when you are young and naive, you dont always realize what is going to happen or the things that COULD go wrong, so you dont get worried. Now that I have had so many PICC's and have learned of people with issues and things like that, its a lot harder for me. When I had my PICC placed this past December, I freaked out practically. I could feel EVERYTHING they were doing, the novacaine, the threading up of the actual PICC. It was awful and the nurses were making fun of me .

I also have problems with PICC dressing changes. LOL. I had a dressing change at home with a visiting company and my Nana was with me b/c I was young. Well after the nurse was done, I walked into the living room and was all light headed and had to lay down on the floor. So now I have a few nurses that I have had for a few years or a couple of times...and they are always like "Are you gonna be ok? Do you need to lay down?" HAHAHA. I was just talking to the nurse at my clinic last week and said "I may have to lay down, as long as you dont make fun of me!" hahaha. Then I said the same thing as you, I thought I would get better as I got older, but its actually worse.
