I've had them in the past few years, but before that it was rare for me. I've even had a few cases in which it actually happened while I was driving...I just slowed down a little in speed and kept what blurry vision I had on the road til I got it back!
Fortunately, this topic was mentioned about a year ago, and I kept it in mind while driving!
I think it's the muscles used for the cough that rushed too much blood to the brain, giving it a 'rush'! Either that, or the opposite, as Melissa suggested, the blood is cut off for a few seconds to the brain, causing a temporary lack of oxygen.
There have been a few cases in which I've seen shooting stars!!!
