Itchy Lungs

I don't need any advice here I am just curious if anyone else experiences itchy lungs? I have noticed that a lot lately my lungs seem to itch, on the inside and no matter how much I scratch the itch does not want to go away. It's the strangest feeling! I can tell it's my lungs because it is usually the left side and below my breast and on the side and back. It's only the left lung. Wonder what it means????

So anyone else? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Sometimes for me, especially if the itch comes on suddenly or during a coughing fit, it means I am about to cough out a plug.

Hi Amy, I don't have CF but my husband does.. but I have had the itchy lungs thing! And yes it is so weird! I've had allergies all my life especially to cats, and started noticing that my lungs felt itchy when I was around cats, or in smoky bars. It got really bad at one point ending with me wheezing. When I told my husband my lungs felt itchy, he was really confused.. I figured he knew everything about lung issues, but he'd never experienced that. Later I told my allergist about it and as soon as I mentioned "itchy lungs" he said that I'd had an asthma attack. Apparently my allergies developed into environmental related asthma. When this happens to me now, usually I take albuterol to avoid an actual asthma attack.

So, I don't know if you have any allergies or if it's possible you've developed some, but I think the itchy thing is a big trait of allergic reactions. Although it is weird that it's just the left lung..?? Sorry, I'm probably not helping at all, but just wanted to comment because I've definitely felt itchy lungs, and definitely gotten weird looks from people when describing it, heh.
