I HATE HATE HATE the eclipse pump. There's no way to tell if the line is occluded, and no way to tell for certain when the medication will finish running. This has been a source of frustration. I prefer the Baxter/Bard pump with the giant syringe and the ticking timer with the alarm. It was much simpler.
I've been told that the eclipse pump has been designed to make things simpler for patients who may not have the dexterity or strength to do the other form of IVs.
I miss the days of the syringe and pump. Lately all my meds have been either gravity drip (can we say ARCHAIC!) or the eclipse pump. If I had a choice, I'd prefer they gave me the older style stuff, like the personal size versions of the same kind of computerized ones they have in the hospital. However, I understand that not everyone is self-sufficient enough to handle so many push buttons to set it up.
For as expensive as the eclipse pumps are, I have to say they leave much to be desired.
