IV Med Side Effects

What do you all do differently when on IV meds?

I am having alot of nauseau and fatigue.

The fatigue is a given for me but the nauseau usually subsides after the first couple doses but it's not going away this time.

Do you take anything to help with nauseau homeopathic or rx?

I stayed home from work today to get extra sleep, I figure that will be the biggest help but other ideas woudl be great.

thanks

I never work when I'm on IV's so fatigue is never an issue for me (I can't imagine being so sick that I need IV's and then working... I would be exhausted).

I give my body every opportunity possible to recover from a flare up. And I think that's a big reason why I don't get as many side effects (not the only reason though) and why my FEV1 recovers quickly.

My dh drinks real ginger ale (with the actual ginger in it) and I have heard of eating ginger snaps. Also, keeping a little something on your stomach (like crackers to snack on) might help. And there is supposed to be a pressure point (on your wrist?) that actually helps, but I don't remember where- maybe someone else will .

I don't know what would help with the fatigue- you are sick! Maybe just turning over some of the household chores and going to bed really early (even if you just read, at least you're resting more)? Paper plates, frozen meals (lasanga, anyone?) stuff like that...

I usually farm out the kiddo, too, so I can take a nap when I'm done with my meds. I just can't imagine trying to go to work, and do IV's while I was sick. I get more side effects when I overdo. My nephew was on IV's at home (when he was 10?) and when he was up and about while doing his meds, it made him throw up (and throw up, and throw up...)

Is there any way you could stay home (at least for the first part, when you are sickest and the most tired) to get enough rest?

I hope you are feeling better soon!

No home remedy (ginger, raspberry etc) helped Josh when he was on imipenem last year. He couldn't keep anything down for at least a month. He still doesn't have an appetite (its been 8 months off).

Our docs gave him zofran to take with each IV dose. It did seem to help but not totally.

Nothing is worse than feeling like that. Sorry you are going through it.
