In Your Opinion...Who owns the Medical Records...take the poll

I agree with Lisa.

The information contained in the medical record is owned by the patient. Which is why you have the right to access it and make sure it is correct.

The actual physical record is owned by the health care entity, which is why you cannot take any part of your actual original medical record, only a copy.

So the question as polled is not very clear, IMHO.

Yes it's unclear, I own a copy of my medical records but I do not own my medical records the medical facility does.

I don't think it's fear of genetic discrimination... I think it's more people are lazy and figure it "could never happen to them."
