Jeans for Genes Day

I do a Genes for Jeans day at the school where I teach. Teachers and other staff pay $5 and students pay $1 to get to wear jeans (we have uniforms, so the kids are VERY excited to get to be out of uniform and nearly all 600 of them participate, most bring more than $1, too, since they have been following Emily's struggles since she was born...I usually raise about $1,000 on that day).

The first year I made really neat badges for the staff from pin on name badges. There was a pic of a pair of jeans and the words "Jeans for Genes day 2005, Cure Cystic Fibrosis. The next year I added stick on nametags for the kids with the same design. Got Office Max to donate 800 name badges... Teachers and kids alike LOVED getting the badge. Teachers also turn theirs in to me at the end of the day so that I can reuse them the next year.

Check with your local CFF. The day after I printed the kids labels, I learned that the Cff has nice stickers that are pretty much the same thing.

This is a really, really easy fundraiser, and one that everyone wants to particpate in. I know that some people also sell placards or little signs shaped like a pair of jeans leading up to the event. Anyone who buys one gets to put their name on and it acts as extra advertising.

good luck!

Glad you enjoyed your trip!

we have a jeans day at school almost once a month for various charities. I always do one for CF.

But one really cool thing is that some jean brand (i think its 'seven' jeans) is making jeans with a CF foundation that say "genes in your jeans" on the inside waist band, and have the CFF logo on all the buttons. They're $100 and 20 goes to the CFF...its cool, a little pricey, but cool! i'll try and find the link..
