Hey,

Thanks Guys,

John had to be put back on the vent in the middle of the night because he wasn't able to cough and deep breath effectively enough yet.. He was pissed but he knows it is just for a day.. Tomorrow they are going to try to take him off again.. THis is not a set back at all.. This is normal stuff.. His muscles are still sleeping to much to help his chest move enough on their on.

He was up and talking yesterday...... He is still talking now, just using a white board... He said he really wants Jenny to stay with him so they are letting her stay in the room most of the time....

No problems of infection have been noted, VSS stable, JOhn is going to come through this amazingly.... Wahoooooooooooo and Yippie..

FOr me, this is a very bitter sweet day, I am on both sides of the transplant thing at once.. I am overjoyed and filled with happiness and Joy for JOhn as he is the recipent of some kick tush lungs, the other side is today I am going to the funeral of one of my closest friends son. Just 23 years old....

It is so bittersweet this day that I am confused in my emotions......

Please remember the poor family who lost their loved ones life and the generous act of love they did by donating organs so that my friend John can live.

The circle of life is very painful...and rewarding all in one..

Getting off the vent is difficult for some patients but in time they all get off. Jenn, I feel for you. You are a very special Lady and feel for so many. You and your loved ones are in my Prayers. My heart goes out for the family who donated Johns lungs.

Jenn, you're such a good friend to John. I'm sure his respers went down at nite--most of my patients are like that. I think we even slow down when we sleep. So I'm sure he's off by now. He's still doing great--take heart!

So John is still on the vent, they are not alarmed by it at all. They decided to put a jg tube in to help with feeding.. They are hoping that the energy that he gets from the nutrition will help him be able to cough and deep breath better when he gets off the vent on Monday.

His kidneys are have a little hissy fit right now. High BUN and Creatine clearence. He has great urine output so they just need to find the right dose of antirejection meds and antibiotics and they will evaluate further if he needs dialysis for a brief period of time.....

John was sitting up in the chair today, smiling.....

I have no doubt in my mind that John would not be alive today if he didn't get a transplant this past week. He was that close to death.

Thanks for listening, Have a great night.

Considering all that he went thru pre tx I think he is doing pretty darn good. I wasnt sure he would survive the surgery! He is still in my prayers!
