Joint pain?

Thanks for responding so quickly, I really appreciate it. I was only diagnosed this past summer, and even though I keep reading, everything is new. It's also a little scary because I obviously don't have a "typical" case, and so I don't know whats in store for me. I'll be sure to bring the joint pain up at the clinic though. I think they'll be doing another x-ray since my last one was around the time I was diagnosed. Anyway, thanks again and I'll keep you updated.

Again, happy voting!

Hello!
I'm relatively new to this site, and had a few questions. I've recently been having a lot of joint pain, accompaning a noticable change in my cough and overall health. I had a cold about a month ago that lasted two weeks, but since then I've been feeling run down. Then my cough got worse and I've had a lot of joint pain, ankles, shoulders, wrists, etc. Before I was diagnosed, I had it much worse, at times coming home from school on the bus would be torture (40-90 minutes ride due to traffic, cramped up in a bus seat when your knees are killing - not fun). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else experiances joint pain, whether it has something to do with me not feeling well recently or not. Also what do people do for it?
I'm going to the clinic this week, so I'll get checked out properly. Hope all is well.

Hi Jamie~
I know what you are talking about being cramped up when your knees hurt. Last year I started having joint pain...mostly in my knees but some in my ankles. It turned out that my lungs were backing up with fluid and I was retaining fluid and it was causing my knees and ankles to swell which was causing the pain. I also felt very run down, and extremely short of breath because of the fluid. So just a thought...the pain could be connected to fluid in the lungs.
hope this helped...keep us updated

Here's another thing that you'll be excited to hear (not). CFers can sometimes have early onset osteoperosis (sp). I was complaining to my doc once about back/shoulder pain & he had me do a bone density test (just a scan of bones) and luckily, I came out OK, but he did say that some CFers have early onset osteoperosis, which I hadn't hear of.

I get lots of joint pain, and it always happens just before i get a chest infection, and i need iv's. It starts with my elbows gettting red and sore; then my elbows, wrists and knees click. i always get really really sore muscles as well - the pain is excrutiating sometimes. all there is to do to stop the pain is take ibuprofen so i have to take lots and try to keep moving. i have been talking to my doctors for years and they don't really understand why it happens, but as soon as my infection is sorted, the joint pain stops.
hope this makes sense, its very early in the morning for me (i'm in england!) so have just woken up!!!

I always have joint pains. My knees are particularly bad. I used to take cipro all the time, and apparently they are finding out that excessive cipro use damages knees. I believe, as a whole, CFers have joint problems. Don't know why. But I am always taking ibuprofin to take care of the pain.
