Hey guys,

I have a spreadsheet from the CFF that is a copy from the US Department of Agriculture chart titled "Cost of Food at Home Estimated for Food Plans at Four Cost Levels, September 1997."

Anyone have an updated chart? The CFF states that the chart is updated monthly. I've looked on the DOA site and I can't find a thing. Anyone?

Julie has been AMAZING with all of her tax info. She helped me tons last year when I had questions, and I again used her templates to help me with food deductions this year.

Now, here is my new tax question... So, I know you can deduct mileage to and from ALL medical appts., right? Well, my problem is, I haven't actually kept track on the odometer of which miles I drove, but I do know dates I had appts. and who I had them with (I can back most of these up with insurance EOB's that state the docs' name and date of service).... So, can I just make my spreadsheet of mileages using the dates I take from EOB's and then type into mapquest my route and see how far it is from my door to the doc??? I know they give a standard $.18 per mile for medical, and that's what I'd take, but I don't want to get audited in the future sometime and have them need a mileage log or something! I mean, isn't my date of treatment, place and mileage good enough?

Thanks to anyone who can help... I'm trying soooo hard to squeeze out this medical deduction, as my food intake clearly did NOT help... urgh!

You have to get to the doctors. So whether its by train or car....an approximate mileage from your home to the location is all that matters. Unless the doctor makes housecalls an estimate of mileage is safe for the days of service.

Yep, that's what I do and have done for years. Mapquest/google the location from my house. Make a spreasheet of ALL appointments by date, input the doctors office and mileage. Add upthe miles and then compute them by x .18
