I just found out that i have cystic fibrosis in my arms and chest...
I'm a male of 21 years of age, I work out 5 times a week and have a healthy diet....

Im not sure what to do .... are there any cures? is there any treatment?

Honestly, Im quite lost on how to take this..

Thus far, Ive been to only one doctor and he told me that the only way to solve the problem was to preform a surgery which will leave many scars in my arms and chest....

My question for the forum is this:
Are there any suggestions on treatment? anything less intrusive than cutting me into bits?

Okay... I have to ask... how in the hell do you have CF in your arms and chest? Are you sure you have the right name? I mean in the chest makes perfect sense, but it would've startled me less to hear you say "I have CF in my chest, and not in my digestion." Or something to that effect.

Are you sure they didn't say fibrocystic or some other word??
The treatment you said is totally nothing I have ever heard of to treat CF, which makes me think that you've got the wrong diagnosis or you're just joking here.
First call the Dr & ask him what the condition is called again & if he says CF, I would get a second opinion on treatment before you do anything. Usually CF is treated with anti-biotics and enzymes if your digestion is also effected.

Do you mean cebacious cysts(sp.?)?? I'm not quite sure of the exact details of that problem, other than what I saw when a friend had them. I think it is has something to do with clogged sweat glands and results in large lumps under the skin.

If this is what you mean, I believe the only remedy is surgery, but other than the obvious dangers of any surgery it is not that severe. Quick recovery.

But, you should definitely clear this terminology problem up with your doctor. I've never heard CF referred to like that.

This is a site to support people and not call them pathetic. Perhaps the person who originally posted has misunderstood the name of their condition. Either way they are having health issues and that needs to be respected.

heather my dear, i have come across alot of people who come onto cf forums and groups purely to mock us, and this is one of the ways they do it. if its not a joke its still pathetic that this person has not listened to their doctor enough to even know what they have.

bite me... That is just so appropriate for this forum. If you haven't noticed that's how the majority of these arguments in the forums get started. Somebody antagonizes something somebody else has said. Personally if you can't reply like an adult instead of a teenager maybe you should be posting on the Teens section in this forum. We are all here for advice whether it is wrong or right.

you have obviously not come across trolls who lurk on these forums. this is EXACTLY how they get argument threads started. they get everyone involved and concerned, then someone whos onto them [ie. me] speaks up and there is an uproar. you can easily tell whats fake and whats not. they usually dont know anything about cf, they dont bother looking up what it is [youd think this person would have looked up the meaning before coming to a forum, right?] and they will ask for strange advice and be anonymous. i can use whatever phrase i like. if you want to get technical bite me means, 'think what you like, i dont care'. it doesnt make one a teenager to use the phrase. i could call you an old fogey for using proper punctuation, but im not, am i? now can we settle down and think about how valid the first post really is?
