Just Found This Site

Hi everyone,

I just found out about this site and the forum, so I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. I'm glad to have finally found somewhere where adults with CF can engage in back and forth discussion about topics that concern us.

I'm 26 w/CF; My husband Brad (25 w/oCF) and I have been married for 3 years. I work full time as an environmental scientist, and I'm also a professional freelance writer. I typically have more gastro issues than respiratory ones. I just finished a particularly long tune-up which took 30 days as opposed to the usual 3wks.

I look forward to getting to know y'all a bit more as time goes on!

Warmest Regards,
Lauren

Welcome! Great to meet you. Your job sounds fascinating and I'd love if you shared more some time. WHat specifically do you write?

You'll find alot of support here. So many related topics are discussed, and I've gotten so much help from being here. I've learned so much since I've come here. It's an awesome resource.

Sorry to hear about your recent tune up. But glad you're over it and feeling better. Stay in touch!

Hi Lauren,

The article in your blog is an interesting one. My kids were on meripenem too, now imipenem (with rifabutin and bactrim). So true about the right recipe.

I was curious about your profession. My husband is an environmental planner, interesting field.

Welcome to the forum!

To answer your question about my job, I work at a consulting firm
in their air quality department. I used to research smog formation
at an atmospheric processes lab when I was in college, so that
experience really paved the way for what I do now. Most of what I
do is a desk job-report preparation, etc. and not any labwork.
Someone else does that part and I just interpret it and make the
graphs and do a writeup about it. Other things I do involve
compliance inspections. For example, if a client has a big
generator on site or a fuel tank, I make sure they have the proper
permits for it and are operating under the permit conditions. The
fun part is, I get to the the nit-picky inspector who knows all the
regulations and rules, but I don't have to be the jerk who fines
them. I'm sort of the "go-between" who tells them where
they need to improve in order to be compliant.
In answer to the question about what I write, I'm currently in the
process of having a short manuscript edited to be sold as an eBook.
The title is "Dear Future Husband" and it will be
published sometime before the end of the year. It falls under the
heading of what is referred to as "inspirational
non-fiction". Most of what I write is faith-based, but I also
have had a scientific paper published by the Air&Waste
Management Association. That one was work related.
Thanks for the warm welcome and for checking out my site. Believe
it or not, I never had a very stellar GPA. I managed to cram 4
years of college education into 6...hehehe
My husband is one of those naturally smart types who could get A's
without cracking a book. I on the other hand nearly threw in the
towel many times. All that hard work paid off though.
By the way, what does it mean that I'm a "player"? Is
that a good thing?

Gday Lauren, yes to be a player in Australia is a good thing, it
means you dont sit on the sidelines pointing out everyones faults
etc. so a player "plays" the game and thinks "stuff
what you think, im having a go and i am who i am". now where
have i heard "i am who i am " before? wink., hey
did you receive the little poem i emailed? cheers Blackchameleon
