Keeping Up Your Treatment Routine

I was very non compliant unitl about a year ago when I suddenly got sick. Sice then I have added a TON of meds & extra supplements/vitamins. I think I take a total of 48 pills a day or something (including enzymes). Basically, I started making a chart, starting with the first thing I take in the a.m (acidophilus) to the last thing I take at night (zyrtec). I had to look at the chart constabtky every day & mark off each med as it was taken, in order to remember everything. Then after about 8 months or so, I had the chart memorized & I do not have to look at it during the day anymore. I still keep the journal though, & mark down if I missed anything as well as record my workouts, weight lifting, etc. It is fun to keep track of everything and at first it was the ONLY way I remembered to take every single med. Hope this helps!

Haven't read everyone's responses, but a new thing I've started doing to make sure I am more compliant with my care is that everytime I am checking email or surfing the web I HAVE to be hooked up to vest/nebulizers (unless I've completed my full regiment for the day, for example, then it is fine). It's been a great help for me. I also like to go out late into the night, to bars to see bands play and such. I have made an effort to sit down in the early evening and do a full treatment before I leave for the night because I know I hardly even like washing my makeup off my face when I get home let alone sit down for 45 minutes to "shake and smoke".

It's all about what works for you. I know how difficult it is to be compliant, I spent many years going out of my way to avoid taking care of myself.

Good luck, and I hope you find some advice in this thread that helps you put together a plan that works for you!

Here are some of my tricks.

In the am first thing I get out my pillbox (You can get a big one with dividers at GNC) I take out my pills for mornign and take them and then take out the PM ones and set on a little dish. That way if I see them sitting there at night I know I havent taken them because sometimes I truly cant rmemeber at end night if I have taken them or not, also in morning sometimes I will wonder if I had taken them so now if my evening pills are sitting htere I know I already took my morning ones. I also take my nasacort and advair at same time as pills.

If I spend time on net or at my computer I am doing treatments, I have my compressor and all meds and accessories that are at room temperature on one part of my desk so its convenient and my vest sits underneat, I tuck the tubes up through sides my chair so they stay there and hang vest on back chair when Im done.

The hardest is evening for me since I am busy wanting ot spend time with my daughter but you just have to get into a routine, whatever works for your schedule. I normally flex my treatments by 3-4 hours on weekends so fri night is later sat am/pm later then sunday I do a bit earlier and then I am back within my 3 hour window of TOBI for monday mroning.

Doing my treatments is also hard for me. I also get to sleepy at night or I am not home to do then at night so I just forget doing it. Now days I understand what happens if I don't do them I end up feeling very sick. so I now am good at getting them done most of the time. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
