Life Insurance

I was able to pass the health questionaire required by my work to get the 'higher' levels of insurance ebcause they ased about smoking high blood pressure heart disease etc, they never asked about lung issues etc.

In addition my previous company was bought out and I was able to keep that policy at approximately same price I was paying.

I also was eligible and kept one through my alumni association from college and one small one through my credit union.

I have two life insurance policies from MetLife!
They also know about my CF, so everything is covered (or I wouldn't have gotten it!)
It actually was fortunate in the fact that my parents purchased the insurance for me and my siblings and kept it until we turned 25. Then it was up to us to decide whether to continue it or not. It was highly recommended for me, probably because it was a very good price for my condition. The second policy was based on a "mistake" from the ex. She wanted me to get a "second policy" but either didn't understand I had a "Life Insurance" policy, or I didn't hear her say "Extra HEALTH Insurance Policy", which is not something so readily available in the U.S. as far as I knew at that time, anyway.
I suppose checking out various life insurance companies like MetLife, and others may at least give you a chance to find out what you need and what kind of policies you'll be able to get.
Only problem with my case is that I didn't expect to be here so long, and with the yen price, I'm actually paying more because of that, but can't quit the policy because I'd actually lose more money, AND have no life insurance policy!

Look into joining some associations like aaa, or aarp (for those of us dinosaurs) etc. they will often have group policies that you can get. There were other threads on this topic too.

Yes, it is possible. As others have said, getting it at a very young age is the easiest way... My parents got me a metlife policy when I was very young, and I have been able to expand that policy as I have gotten older without having to jump through hoops.

The other way, especially for adults, is through your employer. Many employers waive the medical requirements for many types of insurance when you are a NEW employee. Depending on your company, you have a grace period of up to a few months where you can sign up without all the medical stuff coming into play.

As touched upon earlier, disability insurance is of even greater concern than life insurance. If your company offers it, GET IT. If your company offers supplemental disability insurance, GET IT. Again, as a new employee there are often grace periods where you don't have to qualify medically.

Often, these products (disability and life) are transferable... if you leave the job you can take the insurance with you, as long as you continue to pay the premiums. Not that it needs to be said, but PAY YOUR PREMIUM!! If the insuring company knows you have CF, they will look for any reason to get you out of their pool. Don't give them any reasons.
