Low blood sugar and CFRD?

WOW! are problems seem to be identical. The prandin seem to work for me all DAY yesterday, except for the morning. I'm going to try half a prandin this morning. As for my morning highs, I've been taking metformin 500 mg at night before bed and a cinnamon pill. This resulted in morning bs of 95-105. With just the metformin my bs was 125-140. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the insulin just yet. I'm sure I'll need it when I finally get pregnant, but I'm holding out as long as I can.

I really appreicate the postings...what did people do before internet!

I thought that the cinnamon wasn't helping me, but then I realized that it just wasn't helping me during PMS week , and that my regular Prandin schedule wasn't working quite as well, either. If I watch what I eat that week, or remember to take my Prandin with every meal, everything is fine. Of course for me, watching what I eat that week means watching the food as it goes to my mouth, lol. PMS cravings are often my downfall! Sugar free candy has been a blessing, that's for sure . Just something to keep an eye out for

I may add a half a pill to my morning dose and see what happens. Hmmm.....that would be nice if it works!

Oh, and I don't know if this will help you or not, but in the mornings, I have started taking my Prandin second thing in the morning (I have a pillcase in the bathroom for it) and I think that has helped me with the timing of my morning dose.

so I took 1/2 prandin and ate oatmeal 15 minutes later. I started feeling the shakes 3 hrs after breakfast, bs was 80. I immediately had a sip of coke and peanuts. So, I think it's going to work for me. I just have to remember to snack 2 hrs after my meals. I seem to hit the lows about 2.5-3 hrs after taking the prandin, so snacking on something after 2 hours will prevent this.

I haven't experienced the PMS cravings yet, but I'll keep a mental note. Thanks for the advice.

I'm glad it worked ! I also think that the higher sugars during PMS thing may have been a contributing factor as to why I always felt so bad, tired, bloated, short of breath during PMS week, before I got my CFRD diagnosis- if my sugars run higher then, it makes sense. Those things have gotten a little bit better since I started my diabetes med- now I'm mainly just grumpy and short tempered that week!

I didn't mean watch out for the cravings, lol , I meant watch to make sure that your sugars don't run different (higher or lower) during that week, due to your horomones changing . From what I've gathered, some people it does, some people it doesn't...
