low bp and o2

anyone else have problems with low blood pressure?? like... 80/45 readings? my o2 sats are also 86-87... obviously i'm in the hospitals and am "happily" attached to oxygen, my pfts are low(normal) in the 39-42 range, which i think can account for some of the decrease in the o2 but ive never had my stats be this low. i usually run 90/60 and 93-94... any way i can bring that up without medication???? ive had 4 attempts at putting in a picc line and they either can't thread it or they hit an artery and i almost bled out (was kind of gnarly watching my blood spray all over the room and almost pass out while my mother slowly shut her laptop and looked so confused!) and am fighting them on putting in a gtube, sooo im 2 seconds short of taking out my iv and going home and saying eff it, so if anyone knows a way to get my bp back to normal without taking another pill or seeing another dr, i'd loooove some advice! thanks!!

I don't really have any suggestions for you. I just wanted to say that when I got sicker and more towards Tx, my blood pressure was really low (about the same as yours) and the docs didn't do anything about it.

After Tx, I had high blood pressure and had to be on meds for it. Now, a year and a half later, I am at normal blood pressure of like 100/60.

I hope that you can do something to get it under control. The only thing that I would suggest is to be up and moving around more. When I am busy, mine is normally higher. This might be an unrealistic (and not so healthy) suggestion, but drinking lots of caffeine also raises your BP.

I dont know if there is anything they can do to raise blood pressure. Mine is usually low when I am sick as well. 85/45 ish. My pulse tends to remain in the 130's too.
The docs have never seemed too concerned about it. But they have always had trouble starting IVs and PICC lines on me too.
Sorry I dont have any suggestions, but good luck, and I hope things look up soon!!

A lower BP is really only a problem if you feel symptomatic with it. IE: increased heart rate (pulse), dizzy, weak, light headed, nauseated etc. (of course isn't this how we feel most of the time anyway? )But many healthy people have BPs in 80-90 range all the time.

One thing you can do that might help your BP is be sure to get plenty of fluids. When your sats and pfts are down you are working harder to breathe so expending more energy and fluids and also losing more water through respiration.

Good luck
