If it's around the belly button - I get that sometimes for several days in a row. Hurts my belly before, during and after my bowel movements. During these times, I notice that I may be backed up, and take Lactulose and drink more water. It usually resolves within 2-3 days.
If the symptoms include burning pain (like cramping when I push), diarrhea, gas and hemorrhoids, I'm usually suffering from an IBS-type flare up. Sometimes, pepto bismal helps a bit, and I also try to eat bland for a few days.
If it's not around the belly button and occurs with bowel movements, I would suggest talking to the doctor.
Other abdominal pain not involved with bowel movements have to be looked at alongside a lot of other variables.
Hope you feel better. It does happen to me, but rarely lasts more than a few days. It's part of my list of "issues".
