lung pain after hemoptysis?

Josh hasn't had any more bleeding since Tuesday night so his doctors said he could come home tomorrow. He will be on the ABX for two weeks.

One thing he said concerned me though. The place where the bleeding originated now hurts a bit. He said it feels like someone is squeezing it a little. hmmm

Is it common to have some pain/pressure when you are healing after hemoptysis? I thought maybe he has some plugs there after not doing CPT for 4 days.

He's going to talk to the pulmonary docs later today, but it scared him.

I dont know if its "normal/common", but I have had it after some lengthy (not necessarily bad) bleeds.

I cant help you with much about it since I just poo pooed it like I do many things. I do know it went away fairly quickly.

It could very well be a plug. One thing I do notice when I have bleeds, but they dont linger is that I feel "empty" like I was able to dislodge something with the bleed that was stuck.

i had lung pain after my first true hempoptysis a few weeks ago. it was tough cause i wanted to put the heat pad on it (i LOVE my heat pad... LOL) but couldn't cause have heard putting heat on lungs after a bleed is a no no. i just used tylenol and it went away within a few days. just another crappy thing about having a bleed. and, i felt awful after not doing treatmetns for just 24 hours, so wouldn't doubt the plugs and mucus just cemented in my lungs in that short time. my doc explained it to me yesterday that when you have a bunch of crud built up in your lungs and it presses or moves againt the wall of the lungs (?), that causes pain. so, quite possible its just a bunch of built up gunk.

either way, not sure this helps, but i experienced it too.

Hey Jane,

I have had lung pain after hemoptysis , but i tend to think that it is due to less neb meds/vest/cpt..

I hope Josh feels better soon {{{{Josh/Jane}}}} <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni
