As some of you know I went to the docs yesterday for my knee.

I was telling him I was having some chest pain and shortness of breath lately. We discussed CF and the fact that I had borderline sweat tests but never went and had the DNA test done. The doc set me up for a DNA test, PFT's, and chest and knee x-rays.

WELL.......I just got home from having the x-rays. First I had the knee ones done then we went on to the chest x-rays. After the first chest x-ray I sat down while she looked at it.

SHE WALKED BACK OUT......LOOKED AT ME REAL WEIRD AND ASKED ARE "YOU A SMOKER"? I said I use to smoke but it had been years since I quit. She just looked at me real strange and walked away.

Now, I use to be in the medical field and know that the x-ray tech is not going to be able to tell me anything about my x-rays. Now I have to wait a week to find out the results and I am VERY nervous now!

I wish she would have realized how nervous that reaction was going to make me!! I know it is their jobs, but they need to realize they are not only dealing with people, but with people's emotions also!!!!!

Just a rant!

That was rotten of her. I would call my doctor and tell him what happened and tell him you want to hear the "wet read" results. That you are too nervous to wait a week for the information after what the tech. said to you. My doc. always gives me the wet read results within 6 hrs of x-ray, he knows how hard it is to wait, just makes sure I realize it is "wet read" and the final results might be somewhat different. Call your doc.

well you're preachin to the choir talking about med people being sensitive....I've seen it all.
But what actually surprises me is that technician's of any type aren't supposed to say anything that pertains to your test or test results when you have them done. Thats kinda surprising.
It'll be ok-a week goes by fast. And worrying won't do any good.

I think I have decided this will be a good test on my patience. I have been saying I need to work on being a more patient person so I guess this is the a good test.
