Check to see if the coverages use the birthday rule. We had that issue where dual coverage the first birthday is first coverage. Inotherwords you don't get to pick. My company coverage was about the same as my husband's but his birthday was first so 2 plans always applied his first. Then my company plan said the other insurance already paid 90% so we pay nothing since our coverage is 90%. They didn't pay 90% of the 10% unpaid. It was a complete racket. We ended up dropping the secondary medical coverage and just using 1 family plan.

Medicare and other insurance rules are different according to state. In VA, where I live, Medicare is my primary and my husbands is the secondary ---because my husbands' company has less than 99 employees. If they had more than 99 his would be primary and Medicare would be 2nd. Of course I didn't find this out til after I had bills trying to go through Aetna 1st and nobody paying.
As for the deductable I don't know about that. There is a medicare web site but I often cannot find the answer.
Good luck
Dawn, 45 w/ CF dx at 41, MAC, lobectomy, retired nurse practitioner, married 24 yrs, 20yo dtr
