I'm in SoCal, but I'm not in the fire zone....I'm in the smoke zone.

Things were pretty much business as usuall here (except for the 80-100 mph wind gust that closed some roads and kept my husaband home from work on monday) until wednesday pm, then the smoke started to collect in the valley. Thursay the girls went to school and they were kept indoors all day (only let out for bathroom breaks). The school canceled classes today because air quality was expected to be worse than Thursday.

We've been closed up all day in the house with our a/c on and our HEPA filters going full blast. We had all the blinds closed and just an eerie red glow came through with windows. There's lots of smoke and ash in the sky.

My little 8 year old gave me a lesson yesterday in how self centered we can be at times. We were talking about the smoke and I mentioned how I had hoped the wind would change directions and blow the smoke away. She just said, "Yeah, that would be good for us but not for the people getting the smoke blown at them." Out of the mouths of babes....but she has always been my very tendered hearted, empathic one.

Well, not much else to report on...hope everyone else has made it through so far.

I see that the winds are abating, are they called the Santa Anna winds?, so hopefully that will enable the fires to get put out sooner.
