Menapause in CFers

Someone and I were discussing menapause in CFers. We know there are a few CFers who are "of age" for menapause, but that doesnt mean they have experienced it yet. So basically the ?? is......do any of you CFers (woman only of course) deal with the joys of menapause yet? If so do you feel it was induced by CF at all or just simply the biological factor?

Oh Boy! I am going thru it now! But I am 52 believe it or not. So I have to say that Mother Nature controls this one, not the CF.( I have a cousin without CF, who went thru menopause at 38 and another also without cf went thru it at 49.)
I hate the hot flashes! Just one more thing to think about. Is it a hot flash, a fever or a hot flash from the Prednisone I am on. LOL!!!
I am finding that Flax seed oil capsules is helping with these. menopause makes you tired too....like a CF'er doesn't get tired anyway!

I went through menopause a few years ago. I only had one hot flash - it was very memorable - but had lots of night sweats. I tried hormone therapy, which made the night sweats disappear, but about three months into it the experts did a complete about face and decided hormone therapy was a no-no. So, I decided to live with the night sweats. I would wake up absolutely drenched. Fortunately, they didn't last too much longer. I have to say, I really like being on the other end of menopause - no more PMS, no periods, no bloating, no cramps, no mess.

Thanks for asking, Melissa.
I had perimenopause changes (not symptoms, menopause is not a disease) of heavier bleeding, waking at night "hot" - this is stimulated by alcohol use, I think. I did experience hot flashes with sweating in the year or so surrounding my last period. Really a lesser event compared to the lung infections that precipitated my CF diagnosis in the same year. I do have the memory problem! I met a researcher at the CF conference who told me that one of the women in their CF practice felt that her CF sx were improved after menopause. A hormonal connection?
