Hi,
Okay, this is obviously not a fun subject to talk about, but I need some help, advice, etc. Has anyone had as much problems with periods as I have. I am 41 years old and I have always had problems with my periods. I started late, when I was 17 years old. Every time I have a period, I get sick. It is just like my body is fighting an infection. Sometimes I can still go to work and school, but I feel awful. If I already have a little cold and I start my period, it knocks my immune system down and I'm sick for a while. Since I turned 40, I have had very irregular periods, one month of spotting and then four months of nothing. I have talked to the doctors and my gynecologist about this, and nobody has an answer as to how to fix this problem. All they say is, we don't want to do a hysterectomy because we don't know if that will make the problem better or worse. They sympathize with my situation, and my CF docs do say that other women complain that their periods can exacerbate infections, but they don't have any suggestions on how to alleviate the problem. I am so tired of being sick and tired every month. I am on Yaz, but it doesn't seem to help. I also have a tremor, that started at about 17 years old, which is when I started my period. It started in my hands, and now my head shakes slightly, and always worse when I'm having a period. Does anyone know a really good gynecologist or someone that might be able to help. Are any of the older CFers having trouble with menopause or have had trouble like mine? If so,what do you do for it? If I'm having this kind of trouble now, I'm not really looking forward to menopause, ya know. Any advice would be great. Thank you! Oh yeah, I have had my thyroid checked a couple of times, and the results say it's perfect. Can a perfect score be different or inaccurate for someone with CF, if that makes sense?
