Despite what the topic says, I don't give a hoot-nanny about the Monster-in-Law in general.
However, last week Friday, the MIL had started a nasty cough and told the wife she had a cold, so the wife kept her from going to her daycare that day. I asked the wife if the MIL has any fevers or such and expressed my concerns for not catching whatever the MIL has got.
I've been generally avoiding the MIL, but this weekend was fortunately one that I hadn't seen the old bat at all.
However, coming home at night, and getting up in the am, I could hear her cough that not only was irritating, but worried about whether I would get whatever it is she brought home (or cultured herself). The cough actually sounded like bronchitis or first stage pneumonia to me! (though I don't remember if bronchitis can go without a fever)
I told the wife that if that cough ever gets worse to take her to her doc asap because as I'm already fighting enough of my own cultures, I don't want any more.
However, I was thinking what kind of tests they might make with the MIL, and thought if I were to ask the wife to request testing for cultures of things like PA, MRSA and Aspergillus, what other tests would be considered the most harmful for me. I really don't think B. Cepacia is even allowed in the country, though I guess I could throw that in there, in case the elderly also culture that, and for some reason it has gotten into the country.
With the MIL becoming almost as old as Father Time, himself, it's probably not so easy to get rid of any infection at that age. And that would definitely complicate my situation if her cold drags on for too long.
