Mommas WITH cf?

With all the recent talk about the changes in textbooks and such, and the fact that I think schools are way to much about tests and not about learning...I am interested in homeschooling. However I worry about my CF getting in the way. I do NOT want my child to be behind in school. As of now we are taking a more "unschooling" approach to things and just learning what she wants (she is only 2). Its going good, she knows lots of songs, speaks sentences, knows her alphabet (18 out of 26 letters), she knows how to count back and forth from 10..etc.

Are there any mommas out there WITH cf that homeschool their kiddos? How do you do it. What happens when you are sick? What kind of curriculum do you use?

Also things like -they are taking Thomas Jefferson out of all history books, the holocaust... pretty much anything prior to 60's won't be really mentioned. I am not sure if its in every state or just a few right now, but it will spread it always does.

I don't have cf, but I do homeschool all of my kiddos (cf included). It has been an amazing blessing!! THis winter she was pretty sick. It was great to be at home with everyone. We were pretty confined, but plenty of learning went on and didn't have to worry about schedules. If we needed four or five treatments a day...all the more time for all of us to sit around and read together. As difficult as this winter was healthwise, homeschooling was very relaxing and educational this year. I also felt like we were sick enough just in our common exposure, let alone being around sick kids all day long. I am thankful for the aspect of homeschooling in our lives, cf or no cf.

Well I'll drop my oar in here.
I'm in a similar boat of deciding what to do (my lo is only 3). I was in school till 11th grade and had to homeschool the last year bc I got very sick. So I have mixed feelings. I was one of those kids that loved school and learning.

Unfortunately my mom didn't really 'teach' me during that last year. She handed me text books, and said-read them.
So...thats NOT the way I'd teach my kids. I would have a strict curriculum and routine. And possibly incorporate tutors coming in to our home bc there are subjects I am definitely NOT qualified to teach.

Its funny how people see things from different perspectives. My fears of the school situation regarding my Cf are there too, but reversed. I'm concerned how sending my kids to school would affect my Cf. 1. Germs. 2. Very early mornings (how will I do that when I'm sick?) (and that goes for field trips, parent involvement etc) 3. Being locked to my home bc of the school year. I live in the northeast, and we spend alot of winter time in Florida. That has helped me avoid <b>many</b> exacerbations. How could I go away like that if my lo was in school?

I have alot of questions too. Regarding the changing of textbooks...that personally would not affect my decision bc learning starts at home. There's going to be things I'll add to my child's education within our home. So if the holocaust isn't talked about in school it will certainly be openly spoken about in our home.

Christian I had the SAME thoughts about my child going as well. How will the germs and early mornings effect me? Sleep has been soo valuable to my health lately. And I don't want to constantly tell my daughter I can't make this and that b/c I am sick.

I do think there are perks to school. I liked school in the fact of hanging with friends and all that. I have lots of good memories. I also want to have memories of my daughter in sports,plays, etc...

Its sucks a hard thing to decide.
