Oh I wanted to say that you AND your daughter need to be taking probiotics while you're on antibiotics. It will keep the diarhea and thrush (and yeast infections) away in both of you. I took Cipro about a year ago and made sure Logan and I both got our probiotics. He never had any bowel issues and I didn't get a yeast infection (which I always get while on antis). Great stuff. Very dramatic effects for me.

Mamas-
HOw did u give your LO's probiotic?
My mom suggested plain yogurt, but my LO is 5 months. Is that ok? She's not eating food except a little rice cereal mixed with water.
My mil told me of a liquid probiotic for babies but I can't find it.
I dont' want her to get thrush!
Is the chances pretty high that she will?

Yes if you are on antibiotics the chances are pretty good that you your LO may get thrush. She may also get loose bowels. The probiotics will prevent that stuff (and thrush, yeast infections and diarrhea in you).

Yes there are liquid probiotics - have you tried your local health food stores? I would just call around instead of going to them all. She's only 5 months so I wouldn't do yogurt yet - only as a last resort. And a probiotic supplement will be more concentrated and probably more effective. I buy a chewable tablet for Logan. If you can't find the liquid then you could always get the kids chewable tablet and crush it and put it some of it in her mouth.

fyi to all interested-
i called a few health food stores in my area and there is a powder probiotic form for infants. I'm having someone get it for me tomorrow.
I was even thinking this would be helpful to parents of babies with cf. I'm sure yeast/thrush issues come up if they need meds too.
