My LO is going to be 3. I'm sitting on this machine about 2 hours a day total now. When I do pt, she stays in the living room (I have it sectioned off), and she watches Tv while I sit in the next room (w a monitor) and do my pt.
I'm wondering what you moms do with the kids while you are doing pt.
I've tried to establish from birth with her that this is mommys time to do pt...and its her special time to watch a show and play. She can't run around the house, bc she just comes in the pt room and pulls apart my tubes, or wants me to hold her.

But i'm getting uneasy about so much Tv time for her. Its just not good. Any other suggestions....Its so hard!!

I feel the same way. However I don't make her just sit and watch tv. We have a play room or she can go to her room, she can also go outside (fenced in little yard). I try and do it while she is eating breakfast. I feel so bad sometimes though b/c I feel like between treatments, cleaning,school, and cooking I don't spend enough time with her.

I have decided that when she turns 3 I'm gonna put her in headstart. Its a 1/2 day preschool. So I would have the morning to take care of everything I need to -and on the plus side she gets to get out, socialize, and all that.

My son is 5 so he basically does whatever he wants but usually he's watching something on the laptop or TV in the same room (living room) when he is home (he goes to school t/w/th in the mornings). But my daughter is only 21 months so she is a challenge. In the mornings I have my dad come over and engage her while I do my treatment. Sometimes it takes a while to get it done because she wants to nurse, wants me to do something, etc so I have to stop and start a lot. In the evenings my hubby is home and he can distract her. She has turned the machines off or commandeered my neb but that isn't the norm. Sometimes she just sits with me. I have a pari trek neb that I may get out and plug in at the same time so she can neb with me. But we aren't quite there yet as far as her wanting to do it too.

christian - I think at 3 she is getting old enough to understand not to pull apart your stuff. do you have a neb she can use even if it isn't hooked (or will she complain about the difference)? Do you have a toy you can play with her on the floor or a coloring book that she can do with you while you neb/vest?

I leave the den door open (where I vest/do treatments) and they can come and go as they please. Sometimes they get in the way, but I just tell them that the tubes are off limits. My little guy (21 months old) likes to climb on my lap, but I just have to keep putting him on the floor and tell him that it's momma's medicine time. At night, I wait to do my treatments until they go to bed. That way I can take my time and be without interruptions. Can you wait until your daughter goes to bed at night to at least have one uninterrupted treatment per day? I think what you're doing is fine though. Maybe could you give her something to color in the room with you while you do your treatments? Or some other activity that she likes? Sometimes I will do that if they just want to be in the same room with me. It is hard, but soon enough she will be doing things more independently and you will have enough free time.

I really don't feel guilty. It is much more important that they have a healthy mom and watch a little Winnie the Pooh than have a sick mom that can't care for them at all.

When my youngest starts pulling on my tubing, I usually give her an empty (un-used) neublizer to pretend she is doing it with mommy. My RT gave it to me and it does seem to help keep her fingers off mine!

I have to ask what kind of tv she is watching... my cousin was really into the Baby Einstein stuff and it really helped her as far as when she went to preschool and stuff. So maybe pop one of those suckers in instead of Dora or Little Bear (I love me some Little Bear! haha).

Otherwise I have no experience to help out with.
