Morning Blood Sugars

I normally don't have issues with my blood sugars (except for lows). I am not on insulin or any other diabetic medications. The past week I have been doing random morning blood sugars checks (at rising, no food in system). Two of those mornings my sugars have been 105. Normally my sugars range in the low 90's to upper 80's when I get up in the morning.

What am I doing wrong?? Two heavy of a snack at bedtime??

During the day my sugars run normal-- 2 hrs post meals my sugars are around 110.

The only other thing I can think of is my sleep cycles have been messed up lately (being woke up during the night by Kiddo or the dog). Are my messed up sleep cycles part of the problem??

Wow-105 in the morning is great. I strive for under 120.

It is possible that your disrupted sleep could be a contributor. Sometimes diabetics get what they call dawn phenomenon where your body releases hormones at night.

The other thing that could be happening is maybe with getting up your sugars are going to low and your body is responding to that low.

Just thoughts...

I agree with tleigh, I think your sugars get low during the night, and then your body responds by releasing stored sugar from the liver, thus raising your blood sugar somewhat. You have excellent numbers, in my opinion, and have little to worry about. Maybe try getting up several hours earlier just to check your sugars. The same thing happens to me. Your numbers can also go up from just stress or lack of sleep, as you mentioned.

105 is really good for waking up. Specially when you get lows during the night.
I do get lows during the night, just like you, and don't have CFRD or highs either.
I ones went as low as 45 (2.5 for us here) during the night. Get lows every 6 weeks or so, very strange cause I don't know what I do different those nights before from other nights before. My team has me eating a sandwich before bed now, to see if it doesn't occur anymore.

I think your fasting sugar should be between 72 and 108? I converted our numbers, we have them in mmol/l and they told me fasting between 4 and 6 is ok.
