Yes, it is true.

I went to a technical school and got an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting. Then, I got a job in an Oncology clinic in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where I had daily interaction with chemo and radiation patients. I knew I had Pseudo but that was it. My doctors knew and said it was still ok to work there. Also, I told the head nurse that hired me that I had CF right from the beginning. No one had a problem with it.

Well in January, I had my yearly exam and everything was fine. Then in February, I got really sick. I went to my CF doctors and found out that I got MRSA. That was a shock.

I lost my job immediately. The hospital had to file a JACO report because I had exposed the whole clinic to it. Because all that happened, I received Social Security payments immediately. I was never rejected or had to file an appeal like most do. I still am not eligible for state assistance, though.

I feel like I went to school for nothing. I'm still paying on my $18,000 loan that is now useless and worked in the medical field for only 3 months! My advice to all CF'ers is stay out of the medical field. Become anything else but that. I regret it now. My health is still good 3 years later, but it did decline some ever since the infection.
