MRSA sores

Well, I've heard people talk about MRSA sores and I'm wondering what they look like. My son has gotten some sores lately that look kind of like a rash and they bleed. He has a spot on his back, head, behind his ear and finger. My neighbor said it looks like excema, but he's four and we haven't seen this before. Although there are some tiny bumps, it doesn't look like a boil or anything. Any thoughts?

My son had a tiny pimple that was pink with a tiny head the size of a pin head. It looked harmless but when they didn't clear up when we did our typical diaper rash treatment I was pretty sure it was MRSA. He had a low grade fever. When he woke up with another identical one on his thigh I called the pedi we went in they were quite confident it wasn't MRSA but cultured it and gave me Altobax (the new Bactroban competitor) since I was so confident it was bacterial and not yeast or other. It cultured postive for staph and MRSA. Best to just get it cultured. Then you know what you are dealing with and can take the proper precautions. He had to take bleach baths during the treatment with the ointment. Unfortunately I don't think this is the end of this for us since he and I both regularly culture it. Recently my friend's daughter had some similar looking pimples on her shoulder and inner thigh. I suggested she get them cultured. She did and it was not staph but another bacteria that I can't remember now.

Okay, I looked at the pictures and all I can say is EWWW!! I actually took Chris to the doctor today and explained that I have MRSA and it could be a MRSA sore. The doctor said he believed it was staph but not necessarily MRSA. Maybe I should have insisted that he culture it?? Anyway, he put him on Bactroban. But from my research that appears to cover MRSA anyway. I still think the infection was initially caused by really dry cracking/bleeding on Chris' ear. He gets that a lot. I am still wondering if it is excema initially or how to prevent this on his ears in order to prevent the spread of MRSA. Oh well. At least he's covered for now. Thanks for the help. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
