MRSA sores

Dry, cracking, bleeding skin would definitely be more susceptible to infection than healthy skin, so it's not surprising that something that started as a milder rash turned into an infection. I hope he gets better quickly on the Bactroban!

My son had a staph infection in the form of folliculitis on his scalp a few yrs back; it was a huge lump (nearly egg-sized at it's worst); all you could see was redness under his hair though- not the nasty stuff like in those pics. It was excruciatingly painful for him. He ended up needing a couple rounds of antibiotics to knock it out- I believe we used Bactrim- and something topical. Emily cultures staph (we didn't know at the time); our ped told us back then that a small scratch to his head that he may not have even been aware of at the time introduced the bacteria and caused the infection. Apparently, his sister could have transmitted it to him. The risk of this kind of thing is something that hasn't even crossed my mind till now!

Oh my gosh... I am LOVING that link. I'm now using that for everyone who asks me a question that they could have just googled!

Disclaimer: I realize that questions on this forum are often asked for a more personal response, totally understand that. Just trying to express how hilarious I found that link, with no offense to anyone who asks questions.

My son's MRSA sores didn't look anything like the one's on google. I tried to find something that looked like it but all the pictures...even for just a simple pimple search...were waaaay too infected and grotesque.

I actually did research it before posing the question, but I definitely wanted the personal response, because I was unsure what it was if not MRSA sores. I probably could have just taken a picture of it. LOL It's already dramatically reduced with the Bactroban though. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Thanks for everyone's help!
