MRSA transmission?

Jessica - please don't stress yourself about this!! it is only a problem for premature babies in the NICU - once they're "full term" there isn't a worry about them contracting MRSA from breastmilk. A healthy child won't culture MRSA in their lungs - it just doesn't happen. If I had MRSA (I don't) I wouldn't hesitate one bit to breastfeed my baby that is due any time now. If it were a real issue, we'd hear more about it since MRSA is not just an issue for a CFer.

Jessica - please don't stress yourself about this!! it is only a problem for premature babies in the NICU - once they're "full term" there isn't a worry about them contracting MRSA from breastmilk. A healthy child won't culture MRSA in their lungs - it just doesn't happen. If I had MRSA (I don't) I wouldn't hesitate one bit to breastfeed my baby that is due any time now. If it were a real issue, we'd hear more about it since MRSA is not just an issue for a CFer.
