Guaifenisen (which I probably spelled wrong) is the only maintenance drug I currently take. I get a generic without the dyes and without being time released. I react badly to the additives and get side effects form them but if I am taking an appropriate dose for what I need, I do not get side effects from the drug itself. It helped me get off steroids after two failed first attempts landed me in the ER. I think it can be very helpful. Just make sure the person taking it gets enough fluids and salt and other electrolytes.

Thanks so much for all the information. Alexa is doing better now after a whole week on antibiotics, Zyrtec and Mucinex. I know the sinus infections are common on CFers, but I would like to know what can I do to prevent them from happening again. She wasn't able to sleep when she had the horrible sinus infection.
