A while back there was some discussion about using Mucinex to thin lung secretions. Has anyone noticed a difference in their sinus issues when using it?

Both my boys are getting over colds. The mucus they're blowing out is turning slightly yellow/green. We started using mucinex last week, so I'm wondering if it will help them avoid sinus infections this time. They're also doing flonase and ocean spray.

I use Mucinex for sinus issues. I haven't found it to be too terribly helpful with my lungs but it does work wonders with sinus problems. I take 1200mg BID when I'm having sinus issues or if I have a cold or something. My internist, pulmo etc all reccomend it and say if nothing else it won't hurt

For me it does help me avoid a sinus infection if I have a cold or something. The ocean spray is great for that too!

Being that it comes in a pill, it thins out mucus everywhere, not just lungs. When I've used it I noticve a difference in my sinuses too.
